When life doesn't play out the way we expected and hurt fills our hearts, it can be easy to lose sight of God's love for us. However, no matter how great the pain may be, God's love is greater. It takes us pushing forward to see His love shine through at the right time. There's no greater love than Jesus.
Pain is inevitable, even if you're a Christian.
I lived my whole life knowing this truth, but when unmet expectations occurred and problems arose, there was a part of me that said, "Why God?"
But in those moments God reminded me to hold on to the fact that He is faithful and will come through just as He always has.
In our "why God" moments, we have 2 choices to make. We can either hold on to hope or let it go. It's only when we choose to hold on to hope in God's faithfulness that we will see Him come through.
When we choose to keep His way, we will see His greater love come through.
Romans 8:17-18 says, "...We share in the sufferings with Christ in order that we may also share in his glory. I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us."
Jesus promises us that through every suffering we face, we will see His glory shine through here on earth and in eternity. Jesus displayed this very truth with His own life. He died on the cross and carried our sins and shame (1 Peter 2:24). The day He was crucified, many people mocked Him and said, "let him save himself if he is God’s Messiah" (Luke 23:35).
If you were to pause at that very moment when Jesus suffered on the cross, you would say, "Where was God's love there?" But if you keep reading, you will soon find that it was on the cross that no greater love was displayed.
Jesus had to die because He was the son of God, the perfect sacrifice to cover our sins so that we could live in righteousness and be with God forever in Heaven. Jesus's sufferings didn't last forever. He rose from the grave 3 days later. Matthew 28:6 says, "He is not here. He has risen.”
His sufferings were not worth comparing the glory that was revealed in Him. Our sufferings too will not compare with the glory that will be revealed through us.
What sufferings are you going through? Will you continue to push forward and trust that God's goodness will come through?
We must trust that there's a bigger picture than the one we currently see. The picture you may see right now is hopelessness, but know that the end picture will be beautiful if you hold on to hope.
God is faithful in that He can turn whatever was meant for harm for our good (Romans 8:28). The end story for any unmet expectation will be that God came through. We are simply called to abide and walk with Him.
If you haven't accepted Jesus as your Savior, you have the opportunity to accept Him today. Only through Jesus can you obtain eternal life and life to the fullest here on earth.
At the cross, Jesus proved His love for us. He proved that his love is greater than our wrongdoings, hurt, and shame. He is greater than all other gods and death itself. All we have to do to inherit the promises of God as His children are to accept Him as our savior and walk in His ways.
John 1:12 says, “Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God."
If Jesus was able to rise from the dead, He can surely take our dead situations and bring them back to life. His love is greater than anything in this world. Nothing can separate His love for us. "Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord" (Romans 8:38-39).
There is no greater love than the love of Jesus. He gave His all on the cross for our behalf. Now we never have to live a single moment in hopelessness. There is always hope in Jesus. No matter our circumstance, we can be sure that He will turn our circumstance around. So remember, there is no greater love than Jesus.
