Help My Unbelief

The walk of faith isn’t always easy. There may be moments when we will doubt what God has told us, but He is always faithful. God doesn’t give up on us in our unbelief. If we come to Him and ask him to help our unbelief, He will. By God’s grace, He will help us believe.

If you had told me this time last year that I would pick up my things and join a group of like-minded individuals to go out in the world to become missionaries across the nations, I would have laughed in your face.

It was impossible. I didn’t have the funds by any means, but God made it possible.

I didn’t have the money to make my deposit for school, but I later found out within a week that I exceeded that amount by almost double of what was owed. God faithfully brought people into my life to give what I needed. By the weekend of me leaving my full-time job, I was fully funded.

I am now a part of Youth with a Mission (YWAM) in Kona, Hawaii, learning how to use the talents of music that God has given me to be able to glorify God throughout the nations. I am ecstatic to be here, but the path to get here did not come easy. I had times of doubt when I didn’t believe that God was real and would provide for me.

Through this, I’ve learned that it is okay to ask Him to help our unbelief. When we ask Him to help us, He reveals Himself to us because He is a good Father. He always replaces doubt with knowledge; fear with peace; and hopelessness with hope. Every time I had a moment of doubt that I was meant to go to YWAM, He always confirmed it for me.

God is faithful. He only needs our small mustard seed of faith and obedience to do what only He can do. Jesus says in Matthew 17:20, “If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”

When we come to Him with the little faith we have, He will take that and give us more faith and strength to move forward. We have everything we need in Christ. We can do all things through Christ who strengthens us (Philippians 4:13)

When we realize that Jesus is the source for all our needs, He will be the one we look to in time of need. 1 Corinthians 1:8-9 says, “He will also keep you firm to the end, so that you will be blameless on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is faithful, who has called you into fellowship with his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.” It is by His grace that we can walk this life of faith.

What impossibilities are you facing right now? Will you come to Jesus and ask Him to help your unbelief?

Believe that Jesus is all you need. Jeremiah 33:3, “Ask me and I will tell you remarkable secrets you do not know about things to come.” God wants to share His plans for you. He is a father that will not decline His child’s invitation to be with Him. When we ask Him to comfort us, He will. When we seek Him with all our heart, we will find Him (Jeremiah 29:13).

When was the last time you asked God to help you?

We may not fully be convinced in God’s ways, but we must remember to ultimately put our trust in Him. Proverbs 3:5-6 says, “Trust in the LORD with all of your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”

In your unbelief, remember that His ways are higher than your ways and His thoughts higher than your thoughts. Even though it seems like there’s no end to the season you’re in, He will lead you out of it and will bless you as you follow Him through the storms of life. So remember, ask Jesus to help your unbelief
